Enabling VT Effect On Existing VMs? (Intel Virtual Technology)

Hi everyone,

Well, it seems three years ago when I deployed some ESX servers I didn't enable Virtual Technology (VT) in the bios. Now, of course, we'd like to run Windows 2008 r2 servers which are 64bit.

These hosts all have existing VMs running in production.

My question: If I enable VT now on those hosts will that have any effect on the existing VMs?

Thanks a ton. And as always, the information I've found around these forums has been invaluable.

no impact on any of the guests once VT is enabled.  As noted it will give you the ability to run 64bit guests.  However, as you now when you enable VT a power cycle is required of the Host.  So, either evacuate the guests, or power then all down, then reboot into the BIOS and enable VT.

Troy,

Thanks a ton. I hoped that would be the case but it's great to hear someone confirm. I understand about the power cycle, of course.
