ESX Templates gray out?

I have a 3 node cluster (HA/DRS) on 3.5u2 with all patches installed, I have noticed that periodically all of my machines marked as Templates will Gray out and the only option I have with them is to Edit permissions. In order to get it back to where I can deploy the template I have to reboot the host that it is installed on. Any advice?

How often does this happen? I've seen this happen on ESX 3.5 and 3.5 U1 also - I restart the hostd daemon and vpxa to get around it (server reboot has never been required)

service mgmt-vmware restart

service vmware-vpxa restart

I've seen it happen about 3 times since late last year.

I have the same problem periodically. I am running esxi and since it is a small shop I usually correct it during the next reboot cycle. Not sure what causes it but it is definitley annoying.;)

I didn't see it on update 1, and have been on update 2 since mid August (right after the u2 issue was resolved) and have seen the issue 4 times now. Running these commands worked this morning and is definately a better alternative than rebooting (Thanks) but would like to actually get it fixed.

My experience has been the exact opposite. I actually have seen this issue in RTM and Update 1. Since Update 2 I have not experienced the issue. Now that I jinxed myself I'm sure it won't be long before it occurs in Update 2.
