ESX SERVER 3.0.1: whether it is possible to increase the size of the virtual machine after its installation

I have installed ESX Server 3.0.1. I have my virtual machine of 14 GB where windows 2003 is installed. Later I realised that 14 GB is not sufficient for my application to run. Hence I would like to know whether is there any option to increase the size of the virtual machine without deleting it from the inventory.

you can use VMware converter to increase the size of a VMDK file.

I agree with ThomasNederman, the easiest way I have increased disk size is with VMware Converter.

Vmware Converter is the simple GUI solution, the command line extend is good too. The part that you really need to calculate is the OS partitions before you extend the VM. If you have more than one partition you can only use DOS diskpart to increase the size of the last partition. To increase the others you will need something like Partition Magic.

backup the VM first, then:

-shutdown the vm

-in VI center, change the size of the disk

-boot VM to gparted iso file

-expand the windows partition
