We had a interesting problem come up. We have a vm that was originally created with a 20 gig vmdk. We increased the disk size using vmkfstools. Then we used Partition expert to expand the disk at the OS level. The OS and vmdk were the same size, But when looking at it from edit settings the size stilled showed 20g. The Guest was running fine for a while then it started getting corrupted files. Check disk was run and it found no errors. The server was rebooted and still no issues.
After seeing that the disk size was not correct in the edit settings we removed the disk from the VM and then re-added it. After doing that the correct size was displayed. After powering on the guest check disk started to run since it was seeing errors. After that was done the server came up fine and started working just the way is should.
Wondering if anyone else has seen this and if they know why this would happen?
