Deploying Windows 2008 Server X64 guest operating system using Virtual Center 4.0 and ESX 3.5 hosts puts up a message telling me:
Cannot deploy template: Customization of the
guest operating system 'winVistaGuest' is not
supported in this configuration. Microsoft Vista
(TM) and Linux guests with Logical Volume
Manager are supported only for recent ESX host
and VMware Tools versions. Refer to vCenter
documentation for supported configurations.

This just can't be right? I just today upgraded to VC4.0 to be able to deploy my new servers based on findings on this forum. And it doesn't matter if I change the Machintype to Vista x64 or for that matter Vista32 (which is ofcourse wrong). Anyone else gopt experience with this?
There should be no need to upgrade to vCenter4 just to be able to customize a W2K8 guesst. We have vCenter 2.5 and have no issues.

That could be the problem since I didn't get that message wtih VC 2.5, then I upgraded VC to 4.0 and didn't upgrade the Vmware tools package inside that template. I just did and now it seems to at least go beyond the point of that message.
