Creating and Deploying a virtual Workstation (Xp) to a PC on the Network

Hello,

I am new user to the Virtual World and really enjoy all the benefits of clustering my servers in a Virtual environment. I have setup all my servers Domain controllers...etc, all is working great. What I am stuck on is how to create a WindowsXp virtual host to be deployed to a PC on the network. Any suggestions would really help me figure out the this new world of virturalizing my network. Thank you!

So you want to copy an XP VM to a desktop and run it?

Why not use VMware Player for that purpose? It is free. http://www.vmware.com/download/player

Actually VMware ACE (along with Workstation) is really used for this type of task.

You could look at installing VMware Player using the embedded .MSI

Check out the Command Lines section at this URL: http://www.appdeploy.com/packages/detail.asp?id=675

It will show you how you can install VMware Player from the command line. You could do that coupled with Sysinternals (http://www.sysinternals.com/) PSEXEC,or you could have a user run a .bat file to install it.

Keep in mind, ACE does have some advanced features, but they will cost you. VMware Player is free.
