Similar to my last question, we've got a host machine with Win 7, and a guest OS of Win XP 32-bit.
Inside the Win XP is a network share. \\machine\sharename
From a different piece of equipment (not the host machine), called 'console', we need to connect to that share. The command from the software that does that connection is:
console> net use q: \\machine\sharename
We -cannot- modify that software; I wish we could, but we don't own the source, and the owners of the source are not likely to be helpful in this regard, without quite a lot of money that we do not have.
The second piece of equipment gives us a an Error 53, that it cannot find that machine.
However, we -can- ping both from the console to the hosted OS and from the hosted OS to the console.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I assume you are using Windows XP Professional (not a Home Edition)!?
In this case you should be able to access a share in the same way as if it was on a physical system. Does the share show up when you just enter \\servername in the "Run" box or the Explorer's address field on the XP VM itself and/or another system?
André
Yeah, XP Pro, should have mentioned that.
I'll check on whether or not it shows up via the run box first thing tomorrow.
