Cloned Ubuntu VM Won't Boot

From what I've cobbled together off the net I thought I had managed to clone an Ubuntu VM.

I created a new dir: cloneVM

I ran vmkfstools -i /originalVM.vmdk /cloneVM.vmdk

I then copied originalVM.vmx to cloneVM.vmx and edited it to change all referenced of originalVM to cloneVM

Then I added the cloneVM.vmx to the inventory

I fired it up and selected create new UUID

Now it just sits there with a _ doing nothing

What have I missed?

This is on ESXi 3.5 Update 2

Thanks
