Change default disk type

Change default disk type

I've two ESX servers and they are sharing a volume on a SAN. I just created three servers and I was told that by default they will use the thin provisioning when I create them. But, as I have created the Virtual Machines, I'm consuming the full 40-80GB rather than using the thin provisioning. So, I've had to go in and manually "shrink" my VMs by copying the VM, importing the machine and making it a thin vmdk at the same time. I went from a total of 200GB being used down to 38GB being used. Is there any way to change the default from the thick to the thin?
