Hi,
We have a VM that appears to be in a hung state within Virtual Center. In the tasks pane it appears that the VM power on is In Progress.
We can power on /off from service console but not from VC.
The VM is Win2k3 Std x64.
We can ping / RDP / Other Windows Operations from Network
We have tried the following commands.
Step1
vmware-cmd /vmfs/volumes/<datastorename>/<vmname>/vmname.vmx stop
Step2
vmware-cmd /vmfs/volumes/<datastorename>/<vmname>/vmname.vmx stop hard.
Step3
ps auxfww | grep vmname
Step4
kill -9 PID
Step5
vm-support -x
Step6
vm-support -X worldid
In a nutshwll the VM is working fine, can be access from service console but we can't accesss it from Virtual Center.
ESX Ver 3.0.1 Build 32039
Any Suggestions?
We have had a similar type of problem when VM state was not being updated in VC. Restarting services cleared the error and we could then control the VM within VC. Start stop, add/ remove NICs etc. Is this a similar issue?
What accounts are you using to access ESX and VC console?
Accessing the ESX box via root.
and VC by VC Admin
As the VM seems functional by ping RDP etc the ESX box looks to be OK. Have you tried restarting the VMware Virtualcenter Server Service on the VC?
Does that something related to VM status? Rest of VMs are reporting fine.

Thanks for the suggestion, Its working fine after service restart.
