Cannot Build Windows 2003 R2 64 Bit Virtual Server

Dear All,

i cannot build a windows 2003 r2 64 bit vm on my VI3.

I have virtualcenter 2.0.2 and esx 3.0.2 (and 3.0.1)

MY HOST SERVERS ARE 64 BIT COMPATIBLE and i currently have numerous 64 bit vm's built from a template i did ages ago.

Now, creating a new vm and booting form the windows cd of iso, starts, but hangs at the "setup is starting windows" screen. Nothing happens.

Any ideas why this might be?

Interestingly, if i boot a vm created from my old 64 bit template and get it to boot from windows 2003 cd and/or iso, it works fine and i can carry out a fresh install of windows 2003 r2 64 bit. The problem only exists when i have created a brand new vm from scratch and try to install windows.

Has there been any updates to esx 3.0.x that my have altered the configuration of a new virtual machine?

Any advice gratefully recieved!

Many thanks

Oh dear!

My mistake, i've been building vms from templates too long!

Forgot that in the creation of the vm there is an actual choice of "Windows Server 2003 64-Bit"! I had built it as a bogstandard "Windows Server 2003"

How embarrassing!

Apologies All
