Can't start vm after importing ovf template

After importing a vm using the vsphere client, I'm getting a "volume group 'volgroup00' not found" error when attempting to boot the Red Hat VM.  Has anyone seen this before? Thanks

Seems that LVM cannot find his disks.

Maybe the controller has changed or the vmdk are broken.

Under VM settings, do you see right properties in the vmdk?

Which kind of controller do you have?

SCSI controller could be correct (you can just try to change to a buslogic, but probably it does resolv the issue).

Can you see also a correct size of the disk?

One try could be run in init 1 (append 1 at the boot promp) to see if in this case you can get at least the root partition.

OK thanks.  What could have gone wrong in the creation of the ovf to start with that would cause an OS that boots fine in its original environment not to boot after it is converted to an ovf and imported into VMware? Which wrong ways of creating an ovf could cause this?

So this isn't a virtual appliance? It's a VM that you have exported on OVF and then imported?

Which is the source?
