Hi Every one,

I have to severs attached to iSCSI with Esxi 3.5.

One of the servers i upgraded to esxi 4.0 then created the a new VM then selected the existing Hard drive which is my print server!! every thing loads up but lots of software's are missing ???

When i build that server i toke some snap shots so i don't know if that has an effect on it!!! but i can see the snap shot file if i browse the SAN but cant see it in the snap shot manager!!

When you created new VM using existing vdisk, mean you replaced/regenerated existing .vmx and may accidentally overwrite your snapshot disk parameter inside old .vmx.

One thing you can try is to take another snapshot of that virtual machine, and then delete it right away. That can sometimes allow it to commit all of the other snapshots associated with that virtual machines if they are no longer visible in Snapshot Manager.

That will not work because you can't take a snapshot if the existing snapshot chain is misconfigured in the vmx-file.

First thing to do is understand the complete snapshot chain - every other action before that is done is more less VM-murder.

So to get help you must post all small vmdk-files - and if possible old vmware.logs - from the time before the VM was messed up
