Can Acronis backups be restored to a VM

I backup Exchange/Active Directory 2008 vm running in ESXi environment to .tib's for example.

If the world comes crashing down and my off-site .tib's are still intact for another example... can I just restore it to a working VM again or is something like vRanger/Veeam more better suited to the task. Please let me know your reasoning if Acronis is not even on the map because I do use it on physical boxes without issue.

In a Guest OS level, you can repeat the operation made on the physical world with no problem. Veeam backups (or VCB/VDR ones) are always welcome in a VM image fashion. If you can have a combination of both (for disaster recovery) you will be doing good.
