I would like to be able to archive virtual servers that we will probably not use anymore but might. So we are looking at copying/extracting a server image from vCenter, saving the imagre away using our backup system, deleting the virtual server from vCenter, but still want the ability to be able to restore the image if need be.
Is anyone doing anything like the above? Any recommendations for the best way to extract the image from vCenter?
Welcome to the Forums - you can use a third party tool like Veeam Backup or Vizioncore's vranger or you can export the VM into an OVF and then move that to tape and when reimport the OVF image -
