Hello, I hoping someone can shed a light on what I'm doing wrong:
I have a guest windows 2003 running in Esx 3.5 that was p2v. I want a duplicate copy, so I cloned it in Virtual Center. The clone machine came up fine, but after I ran sysprep, it keep giving me an error. Am I doing something wrong?
Then once cloing is completed run newsid tool, rename the guest and assign a different ip. This should work without any issue.

For what purpose are you using sysprep? You might want to run newSid, download it here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897418.aspx.

My objective is to run the cloned machine (under a different host name) along side of the origanl guest I cloned it from.
Then once cloing is completed run newsid tool, rename the guest and assign a different ip. This should work without any issue.

Jitendrakmr,
Newsid works - Thanks!
When you clone it via the customization wizard. Try customizing the DNS settings for the nic before cloning.
tgradig,
I appreciate the pointer! What's the reason behind this?
Thanks!
I don't konw if it is something with the way sysprep and vmware tries to call the DNS servers while running the customization script. After I addeded the DNS settings; during the customization rebooted 1 more time than usual.
Good luck,
