Add invalid VM from Storage Browser.

I got Esx 3.0.1 / VC 2.0.1.

I had some VM's on my Workstation 6.0 Beta in ESX compatibility mode.

Then i copied them to my esx on the VMFS volumes.

From the VI3 Client i use the Storage Browser to find the vmx file to the server and "Add to inventory".

As it turns out, the VM was not valid. So what i have now is, 2x virtual machines in my VC, greyed out and notice "invalid". AND in my tasks i go the 2 tasks from the "add to inventory" just saying "In Progress".

I cant do anything with the VM because they are still in progress. And if i do a "vmware-cmd -l" i only get the VM that are ok.

How do i clean up this mess. (Without booting the ESX server. Smiley Wink

Try just stopping and restarting the virtual center service or failing that try

'service mgmt-vmware restart' on the ESX server at the console

I can confirm this solution worked for me on a production server, thanks Smiley Happy
