Access a lun through Fibre Channel in a VM

Can this be done? If so how?

The reason being a client wants to use NetApp Snap Manager for Exchangeon a VM and insists on Fibre Channel and no iSCSI

Yes, of course,

You'll need the HBA installed on the ESX host (must be a supported HBA)

From there, for the most part it is the same as any other FC setup - Zone fabrics, Mask Luns etc.

Will the VM have its own Lun? - You'll probably need to configure an RDM.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .

Yes, to use Snapmanager you need to present the LUn as a virtual RDM. In Filerview allow all ESX hosts to see the LUN. Rescan the HBAs and ensure the LUN can be seen. Then in the VM settings select add disk and choose Virtual RDM and select the LUN you have jsut presented to the ESX hosts.
