3rd Party tools that track disk usage

Does anyone have any preference on a 3rd party tool that helps track the disk usage? We are currently tracking this manually. I know we can powershell a script, but was wondering on what the general concensus was?

Thanks for your help!

You can also use a free VCPlus tool to see your disk usage details and there are some useful tools you can use as well http://www.run-virtual.com/?page_id=184

Also, if you're using EMC storage gears, you can download EMC Storage View plugins that provide some helpful storage details about your environment on Powerlink site.

Hello,

Depends on what you really want. Do you want Disk Utilization from WITHIN the VM or from the datastor? If its within the VM what is the GUest OS, that will help. If its from without the VM then Powershell or one of the other tools mentioned will work just fine.

Currently, we are tracking all of our VM Server deployments on an Excel spreadsheet. We want to have a GUI interface to view our Datastore space availability to ensure we are not running out of space on any specific store..

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We use WhatsUp Gold and Solarwinds Orion to track and alert for disk useage among other things.

There are many solutions and tools as mentioned, and if you're using SCOM 2007, you can monitor disk usage alerts as well. Its part of the built in management packs. Any of the tools listed above should do just fine and free as well.
