routing IP traffic to the vmPlayer machine

I need to be able to access my VmPlayer machine from other systems on the LAN.

Can someone advise me as to which approach they would take...

Ideally I want the host PC to perform port forwarding to the virtual machine. I only need to forward 1 TCP port. How can I make the PC do this without installing more software onto the PC ? (No IPtables in MS windows).

The other option would be for the PC to act as a router. For this I'd enable IP forwarding on the PC and configure the other router to use the PC as a gateway to the Virtual machines IP address.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

David,

If you setup the VmPlayer's network card as bridged, the VM will behave as just another server on your LAN. If you need to limit open ports, you can use iptables inside your VM.

Good luck!
