Downloading Virtual Appliances?

Maybe I'm just an idiot but I'm not able to download ANY of the Desktop

Virtual Appliances from VMTN (http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/) except

the official Browser Appliance. (The Download sidebar always states "Download

not available" and "Torrent available: No".)

Am I overlooking something obvious?

You are not alone. They all appear to have disappeared... My guess is that something has happened to the site or the server hosting the torrent files...

Whatever the problem was appears to have been resolved:

The download sidebar states "Download this Appliance" on most[/i] appliances' description pages and "Torrent available: Yes" on some[/u] appliances' description pages.

The company that I work for does not allow bittorrent through the firewall, and my guess is that this is a pretty common restriction.

Is there any chance that VMware could make some (the smallest or top 20?) appliances available by some other means?

The inability to try appliances certainly prevented me from voting in The Challenge.

The only torrent I have been able to download was the freespire torrent.

Sieve, ONR, joomla all do not download.

EDIT NOTE - Looks like the vmware torrent server is up again. The apps above and others are now downloading for me.
