when hotplug cpu is enabled what problems would I encounter ?

vNUMA is disabled if vCPU hotplug is enabled (2040375), 

can i get a better understanding of if / when vNUMA is disabled why is this bad, what will i see as an issue? 

is the only way to uncheck the hotplug option by power off vm then edit settings, then uncheck and power up ?

Hi,

You need to poweroff the VM in order to enable or disable cpu/mem hotplug

When enabled, and (!) the OS is supporting hotplug cpu, you should be able add cpu's.

Removing cpu's might be a bit more tricky, also depends on OS version and edition.

I tried to fi\nd an overview of all the OS'es that support hotplug add/remove cpu and/or memory, but most of them are very outdated.
