vpxd will not start - Shutting down the VC as the free database space cannot be determined. Windows vCenter 6.7U2

I have a Windows vCenter running 6.7U2

After a recent reboot it will not start, I can see the vpxd starts then falls over.

Inside the vpxd log I can see:

Shutting down the VC as the free space cannot be determined. The Database Health Alarm will not work properly.

Also

Unable to determine database free space "ODBC error: (42000) The user does not have permission to perform this action.

I have tried giving the service account DBO rights over the vcenter database as a troubleshooting step but this didn't make a difference.

Anyone have any ideas? Google search don't reveal much.

Resolved it myself.

The vcenter service account had lost 'sysadmin' server role privledges on the SQL Server.
