I have a general question about vsphere web client sluggish performance, when ICMP is blocked on network firewall. When ICMP
is unblocked, vsphere web client functionality resumes back to normal.
Can anyone help to share any technical whitepaper, for ICMP requirements please? Thanks in advance.
ICMP is not required, only 443 and 902 when you use the console.
Maybe your issue is related to something else at the firewall level. Can you check with your FW team to see if they see any drop when they disable ICMP? Maybe the rule or application profile they are using is craeting your issue (Similar happened to me, not with vcenter and icmp but with L7 rules that were generating random behavior)
