We are a small shop with only one server. Our datastore is locally on the server and we need to rebuild disk array. The problem is that we don't know where to put vm's in the meantime. Could we mount a second datastore on AWS and vmotion the VM's there. Then, format the array and then vmotion the vm's back.
if there is a way to back them up and then restore we will consider that, since we could coordinate to be without the server over the weekend. So if we back up the vm's rebuild the array then put them back before Monday we should be good.
Or is there a better solution accomplish the same thing?
