Hi, I am working with a new server, but it is required that my management port is in a different vlan (vlan 600), but when I change it I loss my connection to ESXi, Do you know why it happends?, I am directly connected from my laptop to the server with an ethernet cable. Thank you

Hi

Can you give me more details, how many nics does the server have? how are you managing it?

Hi, the server has four nics, but I´m just working with the first one only for management.

Above I selected the first nic and everything is ok, but when I change the vlan on ESXi I loss the connection and I have to restore the config

Since you're directly connected from your laptop to the host, you cannot simply configure a VLAN-ID on just one side. To maintain connection in such a case, you'd also need to configure the same VLAN-ID for your laptop's NIC.

Hi @MarkGP71

as @a_p_ wrote the issue for loosing the connection after setting the VLAN tag on the vmkernel is in fact, that you do not have the tag on your notebook network interface. So you need to configure the vlan tag on your notebook nic or connection to a switch interface where this vlan tag has been set on.
