vSphere client connection to esxi 6 - error "the operation has timed out"

VI Connection to esxi 6 from specific Windows client machines fails with below error:

pastedImage_1.png

  1. It has been working before.
  2. Basic checks done and didn't find any issues with networks.
  3. Increasing the time-out value also didn't help

What could be the possible cause of this issue?

Thanks.

If it's worked before but not now then something has changed. Begin with basic network troubleshooting steps followed by other verification of ESXi's availability like SSH and web comm.

Update : Setting the time-out value higher than 60 seconds worked. As per this KB. VMware Knowledge Base

Pending investigation : Why it takes long to authenticate when there is only the default local users, no domain authentication is configured.

You'll honestly be a lot better off not using the C# client and instead using the HTML5 embedded host client.

Sure thing to do, just upgraded to new versions of esxi's and will start using html connection.

Thanks.

You don't even need to do that. Just install the VIB on your 6.0 host and begin using the HTML5 client instead.
