In a 'classic' on-prem vSphere infrastructure, aside from the data on the guest VM's themselves, what other 'components' of such a setup require consideration in a regular backups schedule, likely from a configuration perspective?
Similarly from a security perspective, aside from permissions granted in vCenter itself, are there any other components in a vSphere infrastructure where you need to check who has access who could perhaps steal entire VM's, or make malicious changes to the vSphere infrastructure. I am trying to document all possible avenues of attack for a risk assessment, to ensure access at each area can be justified.
