Hello,
actually we use vSphere 6.0 with one vCenter and one datacenter an one cluster.
We will install two other server in a new cluster.
Is it better to create a new datacenter and under this new datacenter the cluster?
Or in the existing datacenter the new cluster?
Have a datacenter only cosmetic aspects or any technical aspects?
Is it possible to install the two new server with vSphere 6.7 and put it in a new cluster?
Or must i first upgrade the vCenter to 6.7?
Regards
Dennis
Hello,
The datacenter in vsphere consists of basic physical building blocks. and with your small environment no need for multi datacenter from vcenter side.
So I prefer to create a new cluster in the same datacenter.
you cannot add ESXi 6.7 to vCenter 6.0, I recommend to upgrade your vCenter to 6.7 and then join the new hosts with new cluster configuration. ANd then you can upgrade the existing ESXi from 6.0 to 6.7 if the hardware is supported.

If i do the upgrade from my vCenter to V. 6.7 is it possible that ESXi 6.5 and 6.7 machines are in the cluster?
Yes Sure,

One question......
Do i have any Advantages if i create more than one datacenter?
What is the function of a datacenter?
Well... its a logical Group. You can assign thing like Permissions,VUM BasseLine, VM Compatiblity, IP Pools,....) on DC level and than inherit to Cluster level. If you have that need or see the advantage of a single DC is a fine thing, but if you have a need for different settings you may go for multiple DC. Hint: You can create a subfolder under DC and than place the Clusters there.
For us a DC is similar like a location/place.

Another questions….
* How many cluster can i creat in a datacenter?
* How many clusters can a vCenter manage?
If i have a 6.7 vCenter with 2 clusters….
In one cluster 6.7 ESXi, in the other cluster 6.5 ESXi.
Do i have any limitations about the features if i have diffenrent ESXi versions?
