I'm trying to understand the vSphere licensing for vSphere 8. Is my understanding correct that the vSphere Essentials Plus Kit is a perpetual license, and I would only need to continue purchasing SnS?

I'm comparing this to the vSphere Essentials Plus Kit Term purchase which looks to me like this would be a subscription for both the license and the SnS. Is that correct as well?

I was unable to select either vSphere or VMware vCenter as the location for this request, so my apologies for posting it to the {code} discussion forum!
Thank you in advance for the clarification assistance!

SnS is required for at least one year, and it's up to you whether you renew SnS after that. Since it's a perpetual license, you can use the product as long as you want.
At https://store-us.vmware.com/vmware-vsphere-essentials-plus-kit-term-5653720100.html you can see the differences between the perpetual, and the term license. According to this, you need to purchase a new term license each year.
