vSphere Data Protection: ERROR: The most recent request has been rejected by the server

Hi all,

i am facing the Issue for vSphere Data Protection.

while login into the server i was facing the error, please find attached image.

However i did some googling and some vmware community site help i determined few things.

1. I verified Backup appliances VM running on one esxi host  NTP is fine

2. i verified the backup appliance timing it same as esxi host

3. Then i verified in VCSA6.0  not yet configured , i configured and restarted the tools in VCSA and BackUP appliances still issue is not resolved..!!

Any have the idea on this .

we are 2 NTP servers , i checked ESXI host and VDP which is running on backup appliance's VMS both are perfect.

vdp machine config is syncing to the host through vmware-tools  by default.

but i would recommend to keep all involved machines in sync, so ntp is the easiest solution for this, especially for the vcsa

examine the logs: VMware Knowledge Base

btw. support for vdp 6.0./6.1 will end in a few weeks

in my experience vdp is a very unstable product, not designed for reliable backups. my last implementations worked better (less problems) when each appliance was rebooted before daily backup.

better think about another backup solution

Thanks for information,

i just have a question here,

It is necessary to configure NTP in VCSA 6.0 server ??

Because NTP is already configured in ESXI host and Backup appliances are running on those hosts

could you please clarify this .

surya2020,

Make sure you read 's answer very carefully. He has quite a few very valid points and you should start migrating to a different solution ASAP.

It is necessary to configure NTP in VCSA 6.0 server ??

NTP should always be enabled in both hosts and VMs and it's not recommended to sync time with VMware Tools. vCSA time without ntp will slowly drift out of sync without ntp.
