Hello, we currently use vsphere 6.7 and we reached out to a vendor to get more licenses and received vsphere 8 license pack rather than 6.7 - which is not being accepted in the console. I'm assuming they are not interchangable (the licenses).
New licenses are usually provided for the latest version. However, you should be able to downgrade the licenses in your Customer Connect portal, and later - once you are ready for the new version - upgrade them again.

Hmm within our portal it seems it allows downgrade from 8 to 7 - but no option for 6.7. If I read online, Vsphere 6.7 cannot manage 7 if I'm reading this right. I wonder if i need to somehow reach support to downgrade to 6.7.
Once downgraded to v7, please check whether it then offers to downgrade to v6.
