vSphere 8 Essenials licence

Hi,

i got myself in a situation where i didn't get the licence from a partner (in time) and i need to use it today on a client. Is it ok if i buy it with my account and just use it on the client? Are there any problems concerning the licence true owner? Anyone knows?

Thanks in advance

Yes of course customer needs to have a VMware customer account, and yes, you can transfer to another account.

Here is how to do it: How to transfer licenses to another account in Customer Connect

Hi,

Licenses should always be in the name of the customer. If you are a VMware reseller, then this is another question.

Legally, it is a paid license you can use in a production environment(yours or a client's). As long is not used somewhere else and you change the owner as soon as possible, I don't see an issue if this is temporary.

I think the client needs to make an account and then i will have to take it with the support to trasfer the licence. I don't mind having it under my account but i think it should go under the end user's account
