snapshot consolidation on vSAN

I hava a problem with snapshots on vSAN. We have TSM backup and on many VM's we have "Consolidation needed" alert.

On many of them I can see old snapshots like 00002, 00003 etc.

This is an example of one of my problematic vm's.

But snapshots tab is empty.

I have tried creating new snapshots, consolidating them and deleting but no luck.

Since I have only one datastore I can't migrate the VM to another datastore so unused snapshots would be deleted with vMotion.

How can I solve this?

Try to unregister VM and register again.

Another option try to consolidate the VM from the ESXi level, not from vCenter.

Hi,

Have you try to do a vmotion of the VM and redo to consolidation ?

I have to shut down the machine to unregister it, but with many vm's in this state, shutting them down is not an option.

I connected to the host via ssh and ran this commands

create snapshot - vim-cmd vmsvc/snapshot.create [VmId] [snapshotName] [snapshotDescription] [includeMemory] [quiesced]

delete snapshot - vim-cmd vmsvc/snapshot.removeall [Vmid]

I cant find command to consolidate snapshot via esxi host.

I have tried to create new snapshot and when I look at it (00001) it points to original vmdk

But the 0002 snapshot also points to original vmdk disk.

And consolidate option on the vm is greyed out.

If I select delete all snapshots I'm still stuck with 00002 snapshot

Hi,

Could you do a screen shot of the VM Disks settings and the controlers also?
