snapshot alarm and consolidation

hi all

 

1)

created a snapshot alarm alert

sparsefile is more then 1gb in size

why no alarm is trigger ?

 

2)
when does vmware decide snapshot consolidation is required ?

Hey @alankoh,

Is the snapshot size on the Snapshot Management console showing as more than 1Gb?

sesparse is more then 1G but snapshot doesn't reflect in vcenter

@alankoh,

What if you try to increase the size even more and apply the alarm at the Virtual Machine level instead to the cluster, just for the purpose of testing.

It seems that the only way is to create another snapshot on top of the current - the alarm will then trigger which seems wierd because the 1st snapshot has already exceeded 1GB

In the GUI, it seems like the 2nd snapshot is reflecting the size of the 1st snapshot ...
