"Expose hardware assisted virtualization" - any need aside from nested virtualization?

Hi

I know that vhv.enable = "true" ("expose hardware assisted virtualization to guest OS") is needed for nested virtualization, but is there a "realistic scenario" where it makes sense for a Windows 2016 application server? We have developers (something with IIS web server) which requested this to be enabled, but so far failed to explain what they're going to do with it...

As far as I understand it's only useful if one runs some sort of virtualization inside the VM (that would be Hyper-V or maybe VirtualBox in this case), or some sort of emulator? Or is there possibly an application that can benefit in some way (faster encryption, whatever...?) where this setup is useful?

Regards
