  • 1.  many VMs do not show event or task data

Many VMs in the inventory do not show event or task data.  I thought this could be a web browser refresh type issue with the vCenter HTML client, so i logged directly into the host in a separate session and sure enough there aren't any events or tasks for one of the VMs in question that runs on the host I logged into.

With all the inane logging, both events and tasks, I'm thinking this is not normal.  But maybe it is????   I have just never seen a VM without event or task data to show on the monitor tab of the VM.   Perf data is all there.

Could this be normal?  or is there something specific that I should look at?

Note, when logged directly into the host (by passing vCenter), there is an additional tab too see "logs" right next to tasks and events, and there are log files showing....

Thanks in advance for you input

Check vCenter's disk partitions. Maybe one of them should be extended.
Try to restart vCenter if it's possible of course.

Check the logs level of vCenter.
