is it goot to store vvol snapshot config files for cloning the config vvol

Hi,

I have a use case, where i am having my VMS on VVOL datastores, and taking snapshot

and from one of the snapshot I want to create new VM with same config and data at that point of time

We tried the following approach:

Create a new dummy VM, which creates the config and data vvol in the storage array

and then block level copy of the config vol and data vol from one of the snapshot taken

But after doing that it is not working because of config metadata mismatch.

So we want to store the snapshot config info and using this info create a VM and only copy data vvols only  and it seems working

so my question here is , is it optimal to store this info in file and how big it can be in future?

or any other solution to handle achieve it?
