Hi all,
I am a newbie to vm, I have a question about ha in vsphere, please kindly give me some hints, thank you.
If I have a vm farm with 1 vcenter server and some esxi hosts (say host A,B), I want to add more esxi hosts (say host C,D) but in another site.
These 2 sites are separated but logically inside the same subnet.
if suddenly the switch connecting the 2 sites was broken (but SAN storage connection didn't break), what would happen?
Would VMs from host C,D migrated to A,B? OR VMs in A,B migrated to C and D.
Thank you very much
Hello and welcome. If you had two physically separate sites (regardless of the L3 schema in use), and one site became disconnected from the network, the disconnected site would continue to run but networking will be impacted depending on which networks were involved. VMs will not be migrated in such a scenario.
Thank you, daphnissov
How do people construct a site tolerant vm farm, is there any way to achieve this?
Thank you
There are several ways. One is through VM replication. Another is through stretched storage.
