esxtop showing high %SWPWT with all VMs off

Hello, all

On one of our ESXi hosts, esxtop is showing a constantly high %SWPWT even when all the VMs are off. It is around 20-40% most of the time but often rises to 90%. It all comes from the gsSwapRefill subprocess (ID 65622) of the system process (GID 1). I believe it an abnormal situation. How can I find out what is causing this constant swapping?

Please let us know the version of ESXi with build number and also if possible restart the ESXi host.

Our exact version is: VMware ESXi 6.5.0 build-4564106. We have already restarted it several times while trying to fix the problem. It didn't help. Edit: An identical error came up in the Chiniese forum, but I can't translate it.

Edit2: Could you perhaps answer an off-topic question: how to activate e-mail notifications for this thread? Unlike standard foums (e.g. PhpBB), this one does not seem to provide a subscribe/unsubscribe functionality...

I have never seen this personally. I would recommend filing a support request, as it could be a bug.
