centOS 7 with vm version 8

Dear experts,

I have an urgent question.

We have ESXi 5.5 hypervisor as production environment.

We have some VMs on the hypervisor.

All of the VMs' properties are as followed.

VM version : 8

Guest OS family : RHEL 6 (64 b its)

Network Adapther Type: VMXNET3

We are trying to create a new VM with CentOS7.

As far as we tried,

1. We can only select guest os "RHEL7" on vSphere Web Client. And the vm version needs to be 10.

2. We want to create it with VM version 8, but when we select vm version 8,  RHEL 7 is not available in gues os type drop down.

3. When we use Linux (Other Linux 64 bits) as guest os type, network  adapter type VMXNET3 is not available to select. Only E1000 is available.

As the hypervisor is used on production environment, we are creating new vm with extra care.

We want to create new vm with same vm version and same network adapter type.

Is it safe to create CentOS7 with gues os type "Linux (Other Linux 64 bits)" and with network adapter type "E1000"?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Fred
