cannot increase the size of the Virtual Machine disk while the VM is running on snapshot.

Why we cannot increase the size of the Virtual Machine disk while the VM is running on snapshot during powered ON/OFF status. Please give the reason with justification

This is a standard and indeed a expected behavior.  You cant modify the phys. vDisk when running on a snapshot because think about what should happens when you rollback a snapshot and compare phys. layout (VM) and the logical one from guest OS perspective.

So delete all snaps if you need to increase the size of a vDisk.

hi ,

when you take Snapshot from VM , at first VMDK file convert to read only state and changes write to delta disk.

when you want to increase disk size , you must change VMDK that is on read only state and cant accept any change. so you must remove snapshot to merge vmdk and dlta file and your vmdk accept changes
