backup server unable to connect to ESXi host

I've recently upgrade my vcenter and ESXi host to 6.5 update1. There are 3 ESXi hosts, I've tried run backup on the upgraded ESXi hosts, there's 1 host unable to backup the VM. The error was:

error: failed to connect to server xx.xx.xx.xx:902

I telnet the server port 902 from vcenter and other ESXi host able to return respond. But when I telnet from backup server, its unable to get a respond. The other 2 hosts telnet the same port from the backup server are able to return a respond.

I've attached the print screen error on this post.

Anything I can check what causes this?

Is your backup server on a different subnet than your ESXi hosts' management vmkernel interfaces? If so, you may have firewalls blocking traffic. You should check with your network/infosec team to understand how this traffic gets routed.

The backup server is on the same subnet as the ESXi host

Hi there,

as far as I can see u are using Backup Exec, right?

Did you already take a look at this article?

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH129572

Or maybe restart the management services on this specific host.

What was the version of ESXi hosts and vcenter before upgrade?

What is a backup software and it's version?

Maybe your backup software version doesn't compatible with vsphere 6.5 and you need to update it.
