a Ver of Esxi 7.x kills Int. dual SD Boot modules ?

HI ,

Apologies that i dont know the Precise Name of them off hand .

We use Dell R730's and R840's. They ALL have the Micro SD boot Modules installed rather than Raid drives - to Boot off of.

They are just much easier than installing a Raid card and getting drives .

It sounded like there was a Version of Esxi 7.x that KILLED those boot SD Modules ?.. due to the method in which Esxi was written ?..

was that correct ?

Also it sounded like there was a Version of 7.x Esxi that Did NOT kill those cards any more ?.

Anyone know if thats True ?

If so could someone please holler as to which version of 7.x Esxi is good with them ?

OR - i guess..  Is there version even of Esxi 7.x that Wont kill them .

Apologies i dont have the exact name of those SD cards.. they are just the small DELL Modules that hold to somewhat large MMC cards i believe .

Just found them.. sounds like correct name is " Internal dual SD module "

thanks for all the help ..

The issue with SD Cards and ESXi 7 is not really new, just exacerbated by the added logging that ESXi 7 has.  SD Cards wear out quickly under this load, and even on ESXi 6.7 this would occur as well, just not as quickly.  I would definitely suggest installing a RAID 1 disk set to run ESXi from, especially if it's going to be production.
