Vsphere 5.5 client connection error

Hi All,

My vsphere client version is 5.5 is running on win 2012 standard and trying to connect to vcenter 5.5 (ESXI version 5.5)

When i am trying to connect it gives me the below error.

Vsphere could not connect to "172.x.x.x". An unknown connection error occurred. (The client did not receive a complete response from the server. (The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.))

Issue is being encountered after MS patching. Identified that after installing KB4480975 vsphere client connection is disrupted.

But this KB cant be uninstalled for security reasons.

Can any one advice the cause of the issue and workaround?

And where the the Vsphere client connection logs located?

Regards,

Chlavarara

I guess that this is related to SSL/TLS.

Which exact build number of ESXi, and the vSphere Client do you currently use?

Unless already done, uninstall the current vSphere Client, and install the latest available v5.5 version/build (see https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2089791)

Depending on the ESXi build, you may try to connect to is using the Embedded Host Client at https://<ESXi-name-or-ip>/ui/

I know this is an old post, but I came across this today. I am able to use the same vSphere 5.5 and build on a different Windows machine and that works fine.

Did you figure out what the problem is?

uninstall and re-install doesn't cut it.
