Hello,
I have been tasked with upgrading our vm ware environment (vmware tools and hardware) to the latest supported version for our "code base"
Can someone please tell me wht this means or where I can find out what our latest code base is?
Thanks so much
You have two patches available for your entire vSphere 6.5 U2 (vCenter + ESXi) which, among other things, provide mitigation for L1TF fault. Read the linked KB and bring vCenter up to date followed by all ESXi hosts. After that, the upgrade order is VMware tools for all VMs and then VM hardware versions. I do not recommend the latest hardware version at this time unless you are remediating a very specific thing.
What major release of vSphere are you running?
Thanks for getting back to me:
Version 6.5.0.20000 Build 8307201
vSphere 6.5 uses hardware version 13. What hardware version are your VMs on currently? You can find this out on the summary tab of each VM, as well was the VMware Tools version.
This is the build of your vCenter. What version and build are your ESXi hosts?
VMware ESXi, 6.5.0, 8294253

Thank you very much!
Im seeing on my vms for hardware:
ESXI 6.5 and later (Version 13)
So im assuming the vm's that have this are all up to date hardware wise..
I have a few that say ESXi 6.0 and later (version 11)
Those are the ones I need to upgrade the hardware on as I have a 6.5 esxi environment
Am I right?
