Vmware Convertor: there is no /boot directory mounted on the source machine

Dear all,

I would like to convert 4 physical linux boxes to our vsphere environment.

When i try to connect the convertor to the source machine i get the following error:

there is no /boot directory mounted on the source machine

I already looked around and it was suggested to use the latest version 6.2.0 of the convertor. (i had 6.1.1) After upgrading to 6.2.0 i still got the same error message. I also found some mentions in blogpost/forumposts that this would be linked to software raid but these machines do not use software raid (according to our linux-admin). (they do have a hp raid adapter:

Smart Array P410i in Slot 0 (Embedded)

   array A

      logicaldrive 1 (279.4 GB, RAID 1, OK)

    physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, SAS, 300 GB, OK)

      physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, SAS, 300 GB, OK)

Does anyone have any helpfull tips to get this working?

Thanks

Jeroen

What boot loader are you using on these Linux boxes?

As kind of workaround here, I would suggest you run disk2vhd + StarWind V2V and check the VM boot as well as performance.

I also contacted support for this and the setup of these linux-boxes is not compatible with the convertor-tool. (the setup is quite "special". i guess the linux admin that made them had a weird mindtwist that day Smiley Wink  We are now making new clean vm's and are going to migrate the databases only. Thanks for the replies
