Virtual TPM and physical TPM

I'm interested in learning more about vTPM and I have the following questions please:

1. since it's virtual, where are the keys being stored then, in a file?
2. does the vTPM require that the physical server has a physical TPM chip? if the answe is "Yes", how would that work with vMotion?
