VSphere servers in same subnet and vlan communicate COMPLETELY inside VSphere?

Hello. I am a Cisco network professional, I know little more than nothing about VSphere.

May you please assist?...

In a default configuration, if there exist 2 servers in the same VSphere environment on the same subnet and VLAN, and connected through a v-switch, when these servers communicate, does this communication exit (and enter) on the ethernet cable, or does this communication transact completely within the VSphere environment?

Thank you.

Just to make sure I understood your question correctly. Are you actually talking about two VMs on the same ESXi host?

If so then yes, the traffic will not need to exit the ESXi host, but will be handled by the vSwitch.

Thank you for the reply.

May you please tell me and/or link me instruction on how to inspect/change traffic restrictions within VSwitches and VMware?

Thank you.
