VMs only Power on, direct on ESXi host

Hi there,

Carried out some maintenance which involved powering off all ESXI hosts and VMs across our estate. During the power on, we noticed that there were VM's that needed powered on direct via the ESXI host itself. Not a biggie but a bit of a pain as there were lots of VMS. This worked fine on some VMs but there were 4 hosts in particular which needed its VM's powered on directly.

Any ideas why this was? I'm guessing there was maybe a service that didn't start up correctly?

Cheers

You mean that you cannot power on VMs from vCenter, but if you login directly to the ESXi host you are able to power on the VMs? If my understand is correct, can you share the message that you get when trying to power on the VM from vCenter?

I experienced that problem before and it was due to some services stopped on vCSA due to low free space. Also, you may can check if the following help: Virtualization The Future: Unable to Power on VM in vCenter 6 - A general system error occurred: Con...
